| Jobs @ FC
Our one real asset is our employees. We aim to grow, so
we are always looking for new people. We look for people who
want to stay and grow with our company. We want people who
are not only keen to change and develop but are driven enough
to initiate change themselves and seek out new ways to do
business.
Company culture
Two forces govern our company culture. The first is that
we must continuously change everything about our company so
that we can meet new challenges and reach new markets. And
the second is that we want to have fun while we work.
We also work hard, and the job is often stressful and involves
long hours. But nevertheless people stay with us because their
role develops and they enjoy the company. We look for character
- not skills - and usually people who join us do not have
any relevant work experience. What we look for is a passion
for life, a sense of fun and the desire to make our company
bigger, better and more exciting.
What are we looking for:
In any organisation there's always a need for a variety of
different people. You'll find listed below the 5 main job
roles and an outline of the skills required for each role.
We're a global company so 9-5 hours do not exist here. Early
mornings or late evenings are common place because we arrange
our time to follow the world's hours of business. And, once
again, please bear in mind that EVERYBODY we employ must enjoy
life, respect others, have an abundance of ambition and be
willing to work in a growing team.
The job functions:
Our office is run by the employees and we keep our management
structure as flat as we think we can get away with. And everyone
in the company will at one time or another be expected to
participate in a company project whether it be finding a new
office, implementing a new IT system or improving the way
we do business.
Conference Producer
These are the people within the company who produce our products
- Conferences and information. And this is where we make our
profits. From conception to implementation the Producer will
be driving the event. Conference Producers are expected to
research and think up new Conferences. You will be expected
to produce the Conference which involves creating a marketable
programme, recruiting speakers and negotiating sponsorship.
Finally, you will over see the marketing of your own Conference
and ensure that it runs smoothly on the day.
The job also involves creating, researching and building
major industry web content. However, the ultimate aim of your
job will be to help build a global company that operates at
the forefront of the "new media" industry - so that
means you'll also be expected to play your part in helping
to shape and develop the company as a whole.
Typically key characteristics are:
- A determination to make your project happen
- The ability to communicate and sell an idea to decision
makers across the world
- Originality - There's a lot of competition in this market
and a lot of people trying to do what we do. Our growth
depends on us being first and doing a better job than our
competitors
- Negotiation skills to maximise profits and minimalise
costs
- Commercial awareness - Our Conferences are run to make
money. You'll be expected to spot profitable market opportunities
- where ever they are in the world - and have the personal
conviction and sense of determination to make sure that
you capitalize on that opportunity.
Conference Support
To work in Conference Support you must be a logistical genius.
Our events are run throughout the world and Conference Support
negotiates with venues and AV companies to make sure we get
the price and the best service. The support team are also
responsible for producing all the Conference documentation
in the form of CDs, books or web sites. And finally, our support
team also make sure the speakers are all looked after and
turn up on the day. Skills we need are:
- Negotiation skills: This part of the company negotiates
with hotels and venues - our most expensive suppliers so
good price negotiation skills are essential.
- Attention to detail
- Imagination: we constantly need to develop the way we
run our conferences
- Imagination, innovation and creativity are essential
for this to happen.
- Computer skills
- Ability to cope with pressure and immovable deadlines.
Customer Service and Administration:
Our customers are influential decision makers who are frequently
at the cutting edge of their industry. They expect to receive
good service. In order to provide such service you will need
to demonstrate the following skills
- Attention to detail. With thousands of customers attending
our events each year we need people who can treat each customer
as an individual and cater to their unique demands
- Knowledge of relevant systems
- Excellent communication skills
- Imagination - as our business changes so does the requirement
from our customers. You'll be expected to develop in order
to meet these needs.
Sales and Marketing
We sell our events all over the world. Our Sales people promote
the event on a one to one basis while our marketing teams
must know how to target focused industry sectors through mail,
fax email and web. Skills we look for are:
- Outgoing personality
- Proven sales ability over the phone
- The ability to put together and analyse the marketing
data
Accounts dept.
This is not a job for a dry accountant or accounts assistant.
Managing the accounts for this company is not easy. Whilst
you must be able to deal with extremely complex foreign exchange
transactions and reporting you must be able to work as part
of a team, have patience and be flexible enough to allow the
creativity of the company to take place.
If you are interested in working for our fast moving international
company please send your CV to Timo Johansson indicating the
type of job role you are looking for. Please mention where
you found out about our position
